Please can you add your name to the list (and copy/paste and include yourself) so that we know whether we need to hold on for anyone

Dr Nick now can't make the ride unfortunately but will join us in the pub for dinner

From Saturday morning or so we'll probably revert to the whatsapp group to let people if anything changes. Though there are only 8 folks on the whatsapp group (incl me)

Been in touch with Sam re his favourite tipple, and he's partial to a decent ale. I'm not much of a drinker, so any suggestions? I'm willing to bet I won't find anything interesting at Tesco .....

That's a shame... that large, voluminous and heavy!

Does he want to join us in the pub instead?

EDIT - I don't really know my beers. How about we see what options there are in the pub, and buy some bottles from there? Saves carting it about during the day

I've already asked him and will do so again.

If he does it's only fair it's on us

Otherwise we'll find some bottles in the pub for him

Weather's looking playful 1500-2100  . Adjusted gear yet again, and will faff 28 times more. Can't make me mind up whether 5c overnight is winter (840g) or summer (390g) bag. Currently over-kitted with full winter sleepkit and raingear: bike 11700g, Reg 63500g, wearing 3275g incl helmet+light+phone+map, rear 2540g, front 2352g, stemcells 887g incl snacks/water. Load in bags = 5779g. Grand total = 84254g. Need to man up and chuck half out before Sat AM.

In light of that post ^ this sounds southern-soft  but I'm unlikely to be riding far / at all this weekend. Got back from a week in Asia, factory trip, on Weds with a bad throat and now have the lurgy, bird flu or whatever. 2nd time it's happened this year after that particular trip .. Not happy. Spoken to Reg already, he has a route plan covering similar ground on trails he knows well. I'd like to at least ride out to Tring to say hi to everyone and show you the Ashridge stuff (you can track it for the way back?) - tbc. Ben, I'll call the pub re my food order.

Sorry .. there's an open invite to use the parking facility and be taken on a similar loop anytime for anyone that wants to return to the area.

I got some lurgy too - worked from home weds, have driven in thurs and fri. I am planning on still being there though, it's just a sore throat now. :-bd This make me sound like an unhealthy person...what with the BB200 this year and now this. I think this office has some answering to do...

Offices and public transport, worst places for bugs.. Tues-Weds was 3 airports inc 11hrs stop in HK, then Victoria, the tube and a train out of Euston. Starting to get a bit OCD about it  I'm buying one of those surgical masks they wear in Asia when they have colds, to be worn as a defence. Despite probably stinking from all the garlic tablets eaten last few weeks and vitamins etc to fend off travel aids it got me again. Score one for travelling by bike..

Looking at the bigger picture though, you’ve probably built up a fair immunity against most bugs/lurgy types… Image
This office is quite ill-prone (type of people aren’t exactly fit and healthy), then when a typical office temperature if 24degrees C+, and if I then do several days on the trot of cycle commuting during the winter – hence lowering my immune system in the short term…well I guess I only have myself to blame! Jameso, that's a shame. At least we'll see you at Berko and Tring then (is it still OK to park at yours?). If you're feeling better we can meet you part way on Sunday for a little pootle back to Berko, weather is looking OK then

Weather is looking quite wet from right about the time we meet in Tring. But we can dry off in the pub and it'll be mostly fine when we leave there to bivy up

It should be dry enough to have a fire in the evening after dinner. I've filled my hip flask too
