Seb Dunne (AU) and Ollie Whalley (NZ) just finished together a few moments ago. The next rider back for third place also the first place female, Anja McDonald (NZ), currently about 180km to the finish.

Andrew Lawrence from this forum is doing this. Looks like he's going strong, having completed 2180km of the 3000km.

I love NZ. What a beautiful place to ride bikes.

If anyone is interested in seeing how the TA went down, here are a few views.

Seems to be a lot of interest in it happening again in 2 years time. Fingers crossed.

Cheers

Some of my pics from the event:

When I got back to Christchurch I went for a spin around Banks Peninsular. On the way I bumped into Shane Davidson who is the SPoT dealer in NZ and who was responsible for the event tracking as I struggled up a 400m elevation climb. He seemed to think TA would happen next year or the year after possibly with a different Kennett brother organising. Lots of interest for sure although the course may be amended as bike routes emerge.

Enjoyed those Kevin. (Also went looking for a pic of your Reilly in another folder; nice!).

Running this in subsequent years would certainly be welcomed by me. Every year older my kids get, the more likely I am to make it to that start line.

Great to see your pix.
How did you like the Lauf? I think there were at least 2, maybe 3 other guys on them, including 1st and 5th places, not that its a race, cos its not.

How did your bars go? Any numbness? My tried and true set-up let me down and I still have bad numbness in my right hand.

Sorry for slow response mosquito. I did like the Lauf forks, the route was a lot of easish trails and gravel so they worked well, Not the best looking but light and maintenance free. Getting older I like a bit of give. The Jones bars with Lizard Skins bar wrap were better for hand issues than flat bars I previously used although I did have a bit of soreness for a couple of weeks. A lot better than the Tour Divide but this event was 4 days shorter.

I have an issue on my 'ring' finger but I fell after 12 hours and did some damage but the other fingers healed quite quickly. Had an x-ray last week and waiting for results

Thanks chaps.

Kevin, I suspect that hike a bike section was more like a river when you went through ?
