Quite. Wish I'd taken the waterproof camera instead of my SLR. I didn't dare get it out of its dry bag most of the weekend. I did take a few though:

No Mark we had planned to camp near llyn Grinwydden on Sunday, but decided to descend
off Mynydd Waun Fawr and seek shelter, fortunately the first farm we came to had a very
nice farmer at home.

Speaking of 5 star bivy spots, our home for Sunday night was a peach...

Saturday night was wet but had great views (slightly reduced due to the mist!)...

This is nowt to do with me, it belongs to Pete Gale but I think it's one of the best WRT / bikepacking pictures I've seen ... for me it just captures 'something'. There's certainly a bit of two wheeled tramp going on ;)

Couple of photos from my first WRT…

Pre-event weigh in:-
Image

On the fire road at GR 1 before the big bog:-
Image

The first of a couple of minor mechanicals, not great in the driving rain:-
Image

Fighting a losing battle trying hard to keep the maps dry:-
Image

A lovely clear view of Lake Vyrnwy:-
Image

A good evening on Sunday in the pub with other WRT riders:-
Image

Excellent tea & cakes:-
Image

Saturday night we were getting desperate. Soaking wet, cold and starting to get dark at 9pm we stumbled across this little oasis in the desert. By day a typical village bus stop:-
Image

By night a luxurious 3 bed apartment with kitchen diner, bike store and outside toilet
Image

Image

Not too many “off road” photos as I couldn’t be bothered getting the camera out in the rain.
Wait for me...

Try this, quality isn't good but its all I have at the moment. Will try rendering it again tomorrow in a better quality and post back up on Vimeo.

Let us know what you think.

Mini? It was 8 minutes and used all but 2-3 of my clips. I thought it was on the 'epic' side ;)

Saturday afternoon I spent more time filming and returning for the camera than riding to :P

nice work fella!

i really enjoyed that.

puts the production value of my efforts to shame.

you managed to capture the feel of isolation and seclusion that you get riding in the Welsh hills.

i feel your pain running back and forth to set-up/collect the camera!

cheers, gairy.

Some people told us we were going the wrong way. :?

Hmmm, I think I maybe chose my route a bit more carefully that some.

Other than one river crossing, we had virtually dry feet all weekend.
