Long Mynd Bivvy (Now the Lazy Long Mynd Bivvy)

Post by Scattamah »

Looks like Mrs Scattamah has family turning up on the weekend, so I'll be heading up onto the hill on Saturday night as the forecast looks clear and cool. A bit of a ride around on Sunday morning, down into town for brekky and then I'll be riding back to Shrewsbury. If you fancy a night out on the tops, post up.

Fancy a tag along, one that has a pace just a little bit faster then a snail.
Could meet you at up at the glinding center at a time that suits you, Il proberly do a small run in the morning before catching a train back to Wrexham?

Sure thing...sounds good. If you're interested in riding all day Saturday, we can meet up in the morning in Church Stretton and follow the Salop Hills GPXs me 'n Mike put together last year. If you're up for something a little shorter involving more watering holes, that's good by me as well. And don't worry...I'm not so quick at the moment.

Sounds like a Plan.
My initial plan before I saw your post was to head up with my niece who is a complete novice and camp out.
can you send me your gpx route please and are you happy to rendezvous at meeting point if our pace is not the same as yours, this will be her first trip and I wouldn't want to spoil any ones riding experience.

Ah...right! I'll put together something easier and get it in the mail later today. And yes...I'm happy to meet up wherever.

Ok folks...this is now officially a lazy/fun ride...nothing tricky of note...2 ascents...pub dinner.

Basic route is as follows...Church Stretton, Hamperly, around the south end of Long Mynd, up the Shropshire Way, across the top over Pole Bank across to Robin Hoods, down Plush Hill, pavement back to Little Stretton for dinner. Back around to Priors Holt Hill and up the fire road to the bivvy spot for the night. In the morning, over to the Gliding club, pavement to top of #9 and down to the bottom.

I'll put up a GPX tomorrow for interested parties.

A quick public apology to scattamah for all the time he has put in to route planning this week only for me to have to bail for family reasons.
Can't win em all.

It's all good...I'll still be going out...irrespective of your family issues :)

I really can't be errsed putting together a GPX, so if anyone fancies a lazy jaunt around Long Mynd on Saturday and a slow return Sunday, I'll be at Plush Hill Cycles @ 2pm on Saturday come rain, hail or shine. If I'm not there, someone has died or I'm simply running late due to a mechanical. Route will be as above but may include a dip down the west side to Bridges depending on who shows up.

Cheers for the headsup Steve. Last time I was up there I came down the Port Way and ended up carrying a couple of kilo of mud home with me on the downtube. #fishtail

If anyone is watching this...I'm running late...not hit by a truck...approx. 30-45 behind schedule. Later bat time...same bat channel.
