11-14 March - TCW plus

Post by Charliecres »

I've booked a four-day weekend and my very rough plan at the moment is to do the Transcambrian Way from Knighton then loop up north a bit and back to the start.

The plan will flex, depending on the weather and the extent of my lack of fitness. This'll be my first trip of the year and I'm a frail old man, so I'm not after a beasting.

Anyone provide route info/inspiration or care to join in the fun?

Charles - I'd be tempted not to go all the way to Dovey Junction. Heading north from there will mean either backtracking to Mach' or swimming the estuary. Think, I'd stop the westward leg in Mach' and head north / east from there.

Thanks Stu. I'm not bothered about ticking off the official route so that makes a lot of sense.

My advise is to get a pasty from the deli in Machynllth just north of the clock tower.

Wow. They are fantastic

And the bus shelter near the little tower at the end of the main street is a good place to stop and eat something when the weather is grim!

Not much chance ... 18 months after a 300K referb, it's now shut

If you want a meal in Mach' Charles, head for the White Lion to the lefthand side of the clock tower. Reasonable food and I believe they serve all day.

Ate (and drank) there on the winter event a couple of years ago. Before sleeping in the park
