Anyone used Montane Featherlite pants?

Post by Bearbonesnorm »

Been looking for something light that can be used for sitting around in and maybe even ridden in if I'm desperate. The Montane Featherlite pants look like they might fit the bill, they weigh nowt, pack small and if my smock's anything to go by, should at least keep some wind chill off my short clad legs ... anyone used them?

Swore by them.

Used in KIMM/OMM type events - meant to be great, just don't expect proper waterproofness, and you'll rip them on silly things, but good for sitting around in

I've got some and like them. Light, small, wind proof, shower proof (waterproof would be stretching it), rideable in as the calves have velcro straps to stop them getting caught in your chainring(s), reasonably good cut for pedalling (given that they're not designed for riding specifically).

I personally think there are better options, I've got a pair, and they weigh naff all, but they aren't waterproof, and wet nylon sticking to me annoys the hell out of me. For windproof pants, I'd pay the bit extra and get Haglofs Intense Pants, better fabric and hell of a lot tougher, the large is only 205g

I looked at some of these a few years ago for the LAMM and ended up with Montane lightweight waterproofs which were only a little heavier and covered the extra function of keeping the wind out (and in :D ) as well as water - good cut for biking if the weather is really poor and the lower leg (with velco?) doesn't flap into the chain/rings.
