Unfortunately no, but if you find anything please let us know.
Everything on trousers have a DWR and this walears off on the saddle with peddling I've found
On Saturday I'll have an Outdry top and Berghaus walking over trousers recently re proofes

Re: Recommend me some Waterproof trousers like outdry
I've often toyed with the idea of finding some old OutDry jackets and cutting them up and reforming them into trousers, but never been brave enough!
If I know its going to be dreadful weather all ride, I have some Royal Navy Surpless Goretex trousers that I cut into 3/4 length shorts, and then I wear calf length Reed Chillcheater totally waterproof oversocks. Together, this is pretty robust and has aged well... but its really quite heavy, so not ideal for bikepacking.
For bikepacking, I have some very light Berghaus Goretex Packlite trousers. Unfortunately "light" means they have now been patched multiple times, but they do keep me reasonably dry.
Like you though, I haven't found the ideal option for lowers

Re: Recommend me some Waterproof trousers like outdry
I just tend to accept that my legs are going to get wet. Very rarely bother with trousers (lower legs dry very quickly) and instead usually wear lightweight 'waterproof' shorts of some form. As said, cut-down MOD goretex trousers work quite well in this regard and are also quite cheap but don't buy those with full length side zips
May the bridges you burn light your way

The German flektan ones with braces are good as they extend up your back so you don’t get a ‘gap’
Re: Recommend me some Waterproof trousers like outdry
Outdry trousers are a thing but you never see them for sale anywhere, I know of folk who've run the Spine race in full Outdry top and bottom.

Very spendy and more for road usage, but there's always the Assos MILLE GT Thermo Rain Shell Pants...
There are theories at the bottom of my jargon.

Re: Recommend me some Waterproof trousers like outdry
Berghaus Changste for me - a mix of paclite+ and active and to date have kept me totally dry in some horrible weather. As they are designed for walking the bottoms are a bit loose so could be an issue if you are running a triple... Wear at the bum is an issue as John says but having a good rear mudguard massively reduces this. Berghaus paclite trousers OK too but I find pac lite is pretty weedy and soon starts de laminating. Yonks ago I got a pair of cheap vaude over trousers which were very water proof but not very breathable. They had a reinforced bit on the bum and their only problem was no lower zips so a bit tight over my boots, ultimately resulting in them ripping. I cut them down to a pear of water proof shorts and they still work very well. No idea which ones they were....
OMM ones look good but bafflingly don't come in long leg lengths.

Mostly, I'm using some Polaris waterproof (non-breathable), knee-length shorts and knee-length Sealskinz socks. As related above, fancy materials get abraded easily by the saddle (and the grit on it) so tend to lose their effectiveness.
I'd love some trousers that had a hard-wearing bum but were lighter weight elsewhere. It seems such a basic design flaw.
Mudguards help but aren't the full answer and aren't really the best idea for every bike/ride.

These work that way (as does a lot of Endura stuff), but no idea if they're any good.ScotRoutes wrote: ↑Fri Jan 07, 2022 11:07 am I'd love some trousers that had a hard-wearing bum but were lighter weight elsewhere. It seems such a basic design flaw.

I actually quite rate the Alpkit trousers as they're lighter weight than the full on waterproof trousers I have. Not durable in the slightest though.

Jeez, they look like something out of a "specialist" club....Shewie wrote: ↑Fri Jan 07, 2022 9:44 am Outdry trousers are a thing but you never see them for sale anywhere, I know of folk who've run the Spine race in full Outdry top and bottom.

Re: Recommend me some Waterproof trousers like outdry
I’ve two pairs of bike trousers, berghause packlites which have full length zips, great because you can easily put them on without taking everything off. They are good goretex stuff but still like boil in the bag. Then there is Paramo, the only trousers which I’d leave the house in knowing I couldn’t take them off. I once forded a stream in mine, January on Dartmoor, up to my plumbs and was comfy again within 15 minutes, unfortunately they are a bit bulky to take as a backup but if it’s cold and wet they are brilliant.
The other low tech solution is long sealskin socks and a cutdown pair of Army surplus goretex trousers, cheap, comfortable, waterproof and adaptable.
The biggest thing to accept is that no matter what you do your lower half/feet WILL get soaked, paramo trousers and woollen socks for me make this just about bearable.

We’re all individuals, except me.

I've a pair of those, and wear them over running tights, windproof Roubaix bib tights, knee warmers or knee pads depending on dampness and temperature... A bit noisy, but excellent. On the feet, if I'm wearing tights, then goretex socks over wooly hiking socks seem to work well.ScotRoutes wrote: ↑Fri Jan 07, 2022 11:07 am Mostly, I'm using some Polaris waterproof (non-breathable), knee-length shorts and knee-length Sealskinz socks. Absolutely bottom of the range, budget stuff, but Aldi waterproof cycling trousers have a reinforced bum, quarter length zips and ankle velcro closures to cinch them in. A bit baggy on the thighs/knees but fine. About a tenner too!ScotRoutes wrote: ↑Fri Jan 07, 2022 11:07 am I'd love some trousers that had a hard-wearing bum but were lighter weight elsewhere. I have a set that I use when washing the bike / car. Waterproof... but I don't think I'd attempt riding in them.

It's more that they're absolutely massive. I definitely wouldn't find them comfortable.

But they're a bit "special interest" aren't they? Not that I'd let it bother me if my legs were dry.
I would beg to differ. Can't think of any situation where mudguards would be a hindrance.ScotRoutes wrote: ↑Fri Jan 07, 2022 11:07 am Mudguards ... aren't really the best idea for every bike/ride.
Re: Recommend me some Waterproof trousers like outdry
I was really interested in this thread when it was running. I was looking for a decent pair of trousers but never found any I liked enough to go for. Stating the obvious, the good ones start to get real spendy and having to purchase other things meant being careful about what I went for.
Currently, I've got a pair or waterproof Endura shorts. I've been wearing these throughout the year. Keeping the core warm means being wet or cold on the legs doesn't really bother me. Mind you I live in Norfolk and it is pretty mild. So, trying to gather decent gear that offers flexibility and is dual purpose is what I've been going for. I've gone for the following:
Sprayway All Day Rain pants - They say they're waterproof but how long that lasts is a doubt. They are light weight and will pack away. I'm thinking that, if no real use on a lengthy downpour during the day, they'll be useful in camp as a layer in the evening. I'd use them for the commute too.
Sealskin waterproof socks - as above but also useful in camp.
I think I'll go for another pair of waterproof shorts to add to the Endura.

I had to take the front Mudhugger off my Fatbike recently as it was jamming up with wet snow. Normally it's fine. Dry snow just spins off, wet snow is heavy enough not to get dragged up. This was just the worst type.thenorthwind wrote: ↑Sun Jan 09, 2022 5:20 pm I would beg to differ. Can't think of any situation where mudguards would be a hindrance.
