anyone run a Ti searpost ?

i have a Thomson layback post. quite harsh.

pro's and cons of a Ti one ?

Thomson are notoriously harsh. I much prefer Ti, unless it has to be a dropper.

If you can, use a 27.2 and a shim. The thinner posts are more flexible and less harsh.

Assuming it's for your Ti Salsa, make sure it's liberally coated with anti-sieze, galvanic corrosion is an issue Ti to Ti. Make sure you remove it regularly as well. Van Nicholas do a very nice one with a layback.

That's what I have an my non trail bikes.
Waltly ti seatpost, 27.2 mm, plastic sleeve to suit the seat tube. Head of the waltly posts are of the same design like eg Thomson.
Have held up well and have a good amount of flex (visibly, can't really tell if the bikes have become more comfy though).

I’ve a couple of J&L Ti posts from eBay. Cheap (for Ti) and I’ve no complaints

Yes... that too. My Boardman isn't too bad in 31.6mm and feels almost as comfy as my Canyon 27.2 (really really comfy) on harsh road tires

That's pretty general and I'd say not that true.
Some of the most comfortable seatpoats that exist are carbon.

I have some Kent Eriksen Sweetposts that I really rate. All picked up for good prices - found two on Singletrack and another from a mate. They’re so comfy that you think you’re running a flat tyre, and I doubt I’d ever sell them.

On my 2nd AliExpress one.
The 1st one became a bit creaky and clicky after 5 or 6 years so swapped it for a slightly sturdier layback one. Twin wedge expander clamp with carbon assembly paste. So far so good.

I use the the USE Ti posts and the only issue for me (if i am being a bit of a tart) is they are not black ... other than that, they are seat posts.

But if they were black they wouldn't match the frame

If using a shim, make sure the shim is long enough to extend below the top tube/seat tube junction. I snapped a steel Kona Explosive frame running too short a shim. I'm surprised a Ti frame and decent tyres isn't enough for comfort though - your tyres over inflated maybe?

Yes I’ve a Kent Eriksen ti post that I got from Dr Jon.... and it’s lovely
