Might be worth looking at (relatively cheap too), though almost any walking boot will have a rocker sole and likely not to the stiffness you're after.

Really what I’m after is a waterproof/insulated ankle heigh pair of Five Tens with enough tread for the odd muddy/icy path.
Weren't Adidas doing something in conjunction with 5/10?
May the bridges you burn light your way

Those XM9s look on the money to me.

I think they don’t currently make a waterproof option in either mid or high top.

It really is seconds swapping my Hotpogs over (might be moot as they're not making any at the moment).

All the drop-bar equivalents seem to limit riding to on the hoods only.
Pogies AND gloves, I should have known the correct solution was multiple purchases.

They nearly exist, but I've been waiting since last January for them to actually release the things!

I think the XM900, Vaudes are front runners, if I’m feeling flush and they’re available the Five Tens as a transition season boot.

Pogies and gloves.

Hang on, I started looking for 1 pair of boots and 1 pair of gloves and I’m heading for 2 of each. This is why I never have any money isn’t it.

*backed up by some incoming 29er wheels, I already have 29er wheels, same for 650b, 2 pairs of those.

Are you able to describe the sizing differences between the two?

I'm UK shoe 9. five ten freerider also a 9, I'll check the Shimano's out when home in a bit. Pretty sure I went 9.5 to take thick socks and allow circulation.

Shimano XM9s landed, fit seems excellent on the mooching around the house test.

Sorry, I never came back to confirm, yes, I am half a size up on the XM9, allows for my usual winter sockage of a pair of thins inside knee length sealskinz.
