I have the trousers and they are definitely in the hardshell category , they are bombproof and very waterproof , the reinforced backside is a nice touch too

I've got the ones with the zip off legs, first outing was the bb300 and I was pleased with them. Probably as a good a review as you can get!

For an emergency pair of waterproof shorts for the pack Sugoi Men's RPM-X Waterproof Shorts are a no thrills pair of lightweight, small pack size shorts that do a good job keeping the elements at bay.
