Strong adhesive needed
So my fat ass broke my rear swing arm last week going off a drop off at coed y brenin. The swing arm is worth more than the bike so I'm going to try and re bond it. Originally it has been glued as it's carbon onto alloy. So who knows of a super strong bonding agent I can use ta?? Gotta be worth a punt before it gets cleaned up n retired to a wall in my house.
Re: Strong adhesive needed
Blue Araldite over some Kevlar wrap should produce a decent, if ugly joint. Roughen both sides, what is the worst that can happen.

Ive got some 2pack glue here mate ,we use it at work on the trucks the only thing I don't have at home is the gun but if you can prep it and come over after 630 over the weekend I'll BORROW the applicator from work as long as it's back by Monday not a problem
Re: Strong adhesive needed
Greg, it's no really snapped as such. The way the yeti swing arm is made the alloy hanger section is slotted into the carbon chainstay. It's basically came out as I hit the floor. Had to wack it back in with a rock but it needs bonding in, if u know what I mean

If the above video doesn't help
Any 2K epoxy will work well with both carbon and aluminium. However, both bits need to be completely clean, also slow setting epoxy is generally stronger than fast setting and the bond strength will usually be greater if it's cured somewhere warm. I would also consider adding some kind of 'mechanical joint' such as a pinning.

If none of the DIY options pan out this maybe of interest:
http://www.carbonwasp.com/repairs.htm
Never used them myself but have met one of the guys / the guy and he was sound.

Re: Strong adhesive needed
Sorry for hijacking but if I too may ask
I'd stuck a small goPro bracket from mtb batteries (new adaptors for his Lumenators) beneath my gps (Wahoo Bolt elmnt) mount with 3M VHB... Very good stuff but I didn't do any favours when try to adjust the light without looening the nut (fell off into my hand)... I reattached and continuedmy commute.
Yesterday I went over a pothole on the rd bike (it doesn't mind) and the mount/light unattached. So what this thread is saying is that Araldite will do the job!!!?? On their site they say it stuck 2 Ford Cortinas to a billboardin 1983... Allthem years of seeing it whilst working at B and Q and I never did appreciate the thing!!

Mike... why don't you post a pic to facebook and link it here so we can get a visual of your bike frame prob (great writeup on the Wildcat100 btw )
Re: Strong adhesive needed
There's specific Loctite for bonding this sort of stuff, I'll have a dig round in the garage later to see if I have some, I used to but haven't seen it for years. I'd be a bit reluctant to use stuff that isn't meant for this as you could bugger up a fixable item.
