Hello!
First post. No idea what to say other than hello! So I will practice linking a picture as I have never done it before.

Re: Hello!
Hello Rasta, Welcome. Looking at the size of your shovel, you must have a huge bowel problem.

Hi, welcome aboard.
Re: Hello!
Hello.
Is that your playground or were you on a trip?

Re: Hello!
Thanks.
Foto was taken today. Near Col de Vars, France.
I don't use a tent or bivi bag when the snow is deep. Just a shovel to build a quinzhee or snow trench.
Today I went to see if an old quinzhee from 2 months ago was still standing. It was. The shovel was to dig out the entrance.
Supposed to be a big snow dump this weekend. Then I will head out on the bike for a night. Probably sleep in a roofed snow trench.

But are you 'ard enough to sleep in a muddy ditch?

Re: Hello!
I guess my above reply may be interpreted a bit cocky.
Snow shelters are warmer and quieter than tents or bivis. Inside they usually never go below freezing, regardless of how cold it is outside.
And a shovel weighs less than 1/2kg.
I have just been on another shovel packing trip. But Flickr is not letting me do anything with my pictures. The 1st picture was so easy.

Re: Hello!
Okay. Strange. It is now working, so trip and pictures now posted.
The Flickr forum has lots of posts with the same issues as me. It seems the problem may not be Flickr but Chrome etc.

Re: Hello!
Not you being cocky just me being insanely jealous of your playground.
Back in my snow holing days I used a candle burning - if I remembered to bring one - so you could see when you were about to die of CO poisoning but more likely to drown as could never get the air flow right to stop the snow melting.
