Cold toes

Getting fed up with it now.
Toes are cold to the point of painful, not just on the bike, in the house as well.
Fingers and feet are fine, even on the bike.
Often find myself wearing two pairs of wool/merino socks in the house.
Apart from amputation, any ideas,?

Maybe talk to a doctor? Have you considered it might be Raynauds?

Ive noticed the same this winter too. I'm due at the docs next week so I'm gonna ask him about it. Some of my toes are deep purple/black this year almost constantly so I need to get it looked at.
My aunt has Reynauds so that came to my mind too.

Yeah me too. Fingers and toes everytime I go out in the cold. Even lying on my back in bed these days and my toes go cold. Iv got tablets off the doc for mine to increase blood flow. I saw on TV the other night that docs are now prescribing viagra for this now too ( not joking ) as it gets the blood flowing. I'd rather walk around with a stiffy all day than have the pain in my fingers n toes that I get!!

Best I get along to the Dr by the sounds of it. If I don't go every couple of years he thinks there something wrong with me.

I get this too....my best results so far have been a thin pair of merino socks with a bigger than normal lake boot, so I have an air gap at the front of boot. Then, I've bastardised some neoprene booties, so only the toe and a stringy bit that goes round the back, remains. This set up is good for sub zero stuff for a couple of hours, then that gives up the ghost. I just get stop, get off and walk about for 5 minutes, then crack on till it hurts again. Hands, I haven't mastered yet, despite loads of different glove/mitten combos......and motorbike pogies! My latest attempt is using wetsuit gloves.....some success, but not perfect!

I have some heated shoe insoles, quite old now but still work. Looks a bit like an asbo with aa battery pack on each ankle!

Otherwise I focus on keeping iron levels up and keeping whole body warm, hat, buff, arms and legs as well as core. It helps.

i use 45nrth japanther spd boots i know there expensive but i dont get cold feet i wear sealskin socks with them and take a spare pair to sleep in

the montane prism booties and mitts are a good option and pack down small,i use the mitts when im at camp and the booties allow you to get up and take a walk around without having to put your spd boots on

Hi groovers - have the same problem (albeit when it is freezing cold and wet - rather than just chilly). I got some Endura MT500 Overshoes II and some Sealskinz waterproof socks - and the other day was out in subzero temps and going through "big puddles(!)" and came back with completely dry and warm toes....... Works for me.
