under a tarp in present weather?
will I die.......
hoping to start my BAM plan tomorrow night.
planning on using a tarp/bivi set up.
I don't have a proper cold weather kip bag, but I do have a couple of snugpak softee's. was going to use one under, one over.
wish me luck.
this is my 1st bivi in years, I am now able to get up off the floor since I have got my joints mended..........

No, you'll not die Tony. Something great about being under a tarp knowing how little there is between you and 'outside' at this time of year. Much more satisfying than hiding yourself away inside a tent.
May the bridges you burn light your way

In my experience it doesn't tend to make a massive amount of difference unless it's blowing a gale or p*ss*ng down.

You'll be grand t.
My usual mistake if the weather's looking a bit iffy is not making sure I've got the windward side of the tarp pegged closer to the ground (i.e. shorter guys if you're using them). Although it probably doesn't help that I'm usually setting the tarp up in the dark after a few hours in a pub

I gather setting up on top of a water sprinkler is also to be avoidedIn Reverse wrote:You'll be grand t.

Best of luck - I could barely sleep last few nights in my house, with the storms battering my window!

Yeah, well, it was dark and I'd spent a few hours in a pub.rufus748 wrote:I gather setting up on top of a water sprinkler is also to be avoidedIn Reverse wrote:You'll be grand t.

Re: under a tarp in present weather?
well I didn't die..............but had to abort after 4 hours kip.
I choose a local nature reserve, and the whole 90,000 geese, swans, coots, spuggies decided to start singing. try as I might I was unable to get back to sleep.
a icy ride home at 2.30am woke me up and I was then unable to sleep at home...........
i was snug warm in merino thermals in a snugpak softee bag in a hunka. no tarp was needed as it was a clear cold night.
