Hesitate to dip my toe into the water in such illustrious company but this tickled me. I'm not a "technical" snapper but I'll go for anything incongruous or wierd or curious. I'll call it "Hole In The Wall" I think.

Last of the light on Sat evening. Was hoping for some side lighting but it didn't happen unfortunately! I do like the sombre mood of the Lairig Ghru in the background though, very malevolent.
I am working this evening , there is a perfect snowline today that would have really helped give depth/space to the crags etc that guard the entrance.... ho hum.

Friday night in the Lakes. Unplanned photo, I was walking to get some height on a knoll when a kid ran up to watch the sunset.

Wonderful moment. Didn't matter what the rest of the images looked like after this.

Going to brake the rules a bit today. Might even make a habit of it over the next couple of weeks if I don't get told off
Shot this last feb, but only got around to editing it last week. This was during some winter mountaineering in cumbria during the brief bit of snow, on Skiddaw.
There also may or may not be a preview of something else hidden (or not so hidden) in the image.

Very nice Dan. Different to your usual fair and in a good way.
Logo is nice, but could be a bit smaller. Detracts from the image where it is located.

Thanks Greg. Still playing with the balance in terms of size of the logo, I think the bottom left is the most out of the way to place it though. I'm trying to get more of my adventure stuff out there now, as I seem to only ever post the landscapes.GregMay wrote:Very nice Dan. Different to your usual fair and in a good way.

Same here. I find my eye is drawn to a certain part of a photo, and in this case it's to logo, to the detriment of the shot.GregMay wrote:Detracts from the image where it is located.
Re: Photos you have taken in the last month of which you lik
This is mainly because of the strong diagonal line leading towards it which leads the eye there. For such shots a horizontal version of the watermark/logo might be a better choice, even if it's anchored to the left - which seems to be the default placing for watermarks these days. Also possibly less eye-catching if it were grey or had an element of transparency. Nice shot though.Chew wrote:Same here. Cool, thanks all. That actually makes sense, I think I was looking at the logo individually to the image, but as soon as you look at the thing as a whole that makes perfect sense.
Going to experiment a bit with size, translucency, colour and placement and see where that leads.

As this is starting to feel like the "photos Greg takes" thread. Unless others pick up on it, I'll probably let this die.
A shame, as I'm sure many of you get to places, do things, and see things far more interesting than I.

Don't let it die, I like it
I'd post some of mine up but since photobucket became shiesters and flickr app doesn't work easily I haven't sorted a way of getting photos from my phone directly onto the web (and isn't blocked on my work computer)

One of mine to hopefully keep Greg going as I enjoy seeing his.
Not to the standard of the other's here but there's an explanation of why I like it in the bivi a month thread.

Can’t copy the code from the link so pasted this instead. Currently in Iceland on a photo trip with a friend. This is out on the Snaefellsnes peninsula this evening. The wind has been brutal, and it’s bloody freezing but the light is amazing!!!

Greg... Please don't stop.
My job is very office based so I don't get out and about as much as I used to and in the winter I CBA'ed driving far to a weekend ride at the moment.
The campervan should be ready in a couple of weeks so we'll be heading out to the wilds again soon enough to take photos. So should be back up and running on this thread again.
