Bikepack Maps - New Version
I've updated the maps to include:-
-HT550 2017 route
-Cambrian Trail
-Braunton 150
-More right of way data
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/998 ... apsupp.img
In doing this I've improved the rendering process so should hopefully be able to make much more regular updates.

Re: Bikepack Maps - New Version
Could have done with this thread last week Dave - it would have been a reminder to take the Spanish maps off the Garmin and put the UK ones back on, which in turn would have made navigating the Jenn Ride a much more straightforward affair.

Seem to be working OK on my Etrex 30. I hope it's still working in a week's time...
Thanks for putting this together - owe you two beers now!

If anybody wants to use these in Garmin Basecamp on a computer, this tells you how: http://www.javawa.nl/virtualdevice.html

Cheers dave will take a look later!
Re: Bikepack Maps - New Version
Please excuse my stupidity... but I don't really use Basecamp much.
Assuming I have a virtual device or a USB drive, what do I do in basecamp to actually load the maps?

I've never used Basecamp, the less contact with Garmin software the better! just download and tweak the file name (add UKBP or something) and drop it in the Garmin folder. When you power up the gps it will look for, and find maps. It'll be in the list of maps (or may appear automatically)
Re: Bikepack Maps - New Version
Cheers. Was mostly just so I could have a browse on the computer rather than on the device. That's useful info though.

Create a Garmin directory in Virtual device. Drop my maps into there and Basecamp will load automatically

Also you may have to mess with the detail level in Basecamp otherwise the maps will look a right mess at certain zoom levels

Re: Bikepack Maps - New Version
I see the Cambrian Trail and the Highland Trail on there, but not the Braunton 150. Will mess with the detail though as maybe I'm doing something wrong.

I've done the same as I did last time and mirrored the file here as Dropbox often block files that are downloaded lots: http://cloud.danielgroves.net/RPkmvgcjsM
That will live forever, unless I have a clearcut which never happens on that domain.

I would welcome feedback on any omissions or ideas for new data to add to the map.

Is that one that's been taken care of?Dave Barter wrote:I can change the contour colours for night view. I'll add that to the listZippy wrote: I do need to sort out my settings for colours, as in some places (I only noticed this on the BB200), the contours get hidden at night

Potentially controversial, but what about adding bothies?Dave Barter wrote:I would welcome feedback on any omissions or ideas for new data to add to the map.
Edit: ah - just zoomed in and saw you have some. I've spotted one in the wrong place.

Re: Bikepack Maps - New Version
A search online comes up with several bothy GPX lists (mainly MBA only) which you can add to your device as points of interest. Not as convenient granted but easier to keep updated or extend with your own data.ScotRoutes wrote:Potentially controversial, but what about adding bothies?Dave Barter wrote:I would welcome feedback on any omissions or ideas for new data to add to the map.

Bothies are on there which is why we keep these maps within *our* community atm

Re: Bikepack Maps - New Version
I'd finished my gpx route 1/2 mile short on the way to Burleywhag bothy a couple of months back so ended up coming home again as it was so foggy and to dangerous to keep going not knowing exactly where it was only to discover if I'd switched to your map I'd have found it, always double check on yours now before setting off. Top resource, cheers for putting in the work DaveDave Barter wrote:Bothies are on there which is why we keep these maps within *our* community atm
