Stooge SpeedBall.
I've known about this for a while but was sworn to keep my mouth shut. 'Tis the Stooge SpeedBall, this is obviously a Ti version but there will be a steel variant appearing at some point - It'll no doubt polarise opinion but me, I really like it.
May the bridges you burn light your way
Re: Stooge SpeedBall.
I like it. Will it take normal 29er wheels?
Re: Stooge SpeedBall.
hmmmm thught i did at first, why the double top tube surely thats just more weight involved? I still love the original Stooge

Keeping up with the Jones'Chew wrote:Its nice, but I can imagine someones going to get a phonecall............
Does look lovely but as Mike highlights, that double bar is interesting
Re: Stooge SpeedBall.
Seen this on instagram the other night, I think it looks great. Pity I'm poor!
Re: Stooge SpeedBall.
Yes, been admiring pictures of this the last couple of days (the singlespeed version in the background belongs to a friend).
The tubes may be to give a degree of compliance to the ride (think Jeff Jones). Or they may just be a design statement....

We go out into the hills to lose ourselves, not to get lost. You are only lost if you need to be somewhere else and if you really need to be somewhere else then you're probably in the wrong place to begin with.
Re: Stooge SpeedBall.
Side on -
Makes me wonder how short it'll be. And if it's still one size fits all nonsense.

Re: Stooge SpeedBall.
would love a stooge, and this one looks ace. but I too think the 'one size fits all' is a bit rubbish.
anyone who has met me and also met chew would probably agree too...........

Re: Stooge SpeedBall.
Too many tubes for my (purely aesthetic) liking.
It's just a bike but I'm sure there'll be a huge amount of poor show talked about it on the internet with barely any backing to it. Internet-as-normal then

Re: Stooge SpeedBall.
Was just wondering if the forks would fit my Stooge but mine is tapered.
Other than that
Do we know cost yet?

Zazen - nothing happens next this is it.
Re: Stooge SpeedBall.
The seat stays don't look like they are welded to the seat tube so I'd imagine its been designed like that to give it a lot of natural compliance.Mike wrote:hmmmm thught i did at first, why the double top tube surely thats just more weight involved? I still love the original Stooge
The frame is effectively a massive un-dampened spring.
Re: Stooge SpeedBall.
There must be some serious weight in the front end though, just look at the way it's cracked the floor in that first picture...
p.s. there's a couple of braces welded just behind the seat tube to the 'seat stays'.

Re: Stooge SpeedBall.
According to Mr Stooge, the frame has zero vertical compliance. Has anyone seen any geo figures?
I've been wanting to try a truss fork on my Stooge. I hope there'll be a steel truss available for retro-fitting

Re: Stooge SpeedBall.
I thought it looked closer to the stuff produced by Oddity Cycles than Jones. The other thing that people are quick to labour is that the Stooge ride is nothing like that of a Jones, but having never ridden a Jones I can't comment.Chew wrote:Its nice, but I can imagine someones going to get a phonecall............

Me too, which is why I've hopefully got one in the pipeline ... nothing to do with Andy and Stooge directly though.I've been wanting to try a truss fork on my Stooge.
