Anyone any experience? Thinking cheaper end of the scale like twhammocks or sea to summit, any suggestions or recommendations? I'm More of a tourist than a racer

You're unlikely to use it as a poncho and there's a hole in your tarp.
Always seemed to make more sense for those walking, rather than riding.

Aren't you a fan of the gatewood cape though?

I am indeed and I know what you're thinkingAren't you a fan of the gatewood cape though?
In my defence, I've never used it as a cape and it's designed so the hole in the middle is of benefit rather than hindrance.

You should try it, you'd save the weight of your waterproof and you'll be able to hit warp speeds with a tail wind. I reckon it would work really well with your pink casquette tooBearbonesnorm wrote:I am indeed and I know what you're thinkingAren't you a fan of the gatewood cape though?

Re: Poncho Tarps
I have a poncho tarp which I take along as a changing room when rain is likely! It can be really useful for getting out of wet kit and into dry at bed time when it's pi55ing it down (and for privacy when changing if required). Have used it as a tarp too (and I admit I tie up the hood!).
We go out into the hills to lose ourselves, not to get lost. You are only lost if you need to be somewhere else and if you really need to be somewhere else then you're probably in the wrong place to begin with.

I'm not sure you do - what happens when you've put your tarp up at night yet it's still raining and you need to be outside of your shelter? You should try it, you'd save the weight of your waterproof
I simply rely on not being proud and others have poor eyesightand for privacy when changing if required

It's a good point, probably only suitable in more stable conditions, where you're confident you can stay underneath without having to leave, or have a windproof/other layer for quick sorties
Certainly more useful for walking than cycling I'd say. Still don't have one
There was a short run of ventile ponchos made for some bushcrafters ages ago, they looked very special...
