I'd hazard a guess but the timing would have to be spot on, just after the winter melts away (but not too soon to drown) but before the summer mozzies arrive!

Also, looking through the photos (which are great btw) it looks like they took bivvy bags, hammocks, and a tent

Yeah they seem rather "over-sheltered" if that's an expression. Seem to spend a few nights in huts or forest look outs. Nothing like having all bases covered
