wanted: your old touring/gravel/mbt bike

Post by MikeOnabike »

Hi People,

I need a bicycle on short notice for a tour on tracks and roads in Andalucia. Any of the following would be ideal:

- Touring bike like a Dawes Galaxy.
- Gravel / cross / adventure bike, like e.g., a croix de fer. Nothing too racy - saddle at handlebar height.
- Audex bike so long as there is space for, say, 35mm tires.
- "Expedition" touring bike like a Thorn or whatever with 26in wheels.
- Older 26in wheel mountain bike with relaxed geomatry. Short travel sus ok.
- Basically anything thats comfortable and reliable and can take a rear pannier rack.

I'm 5ft 9in and a 22in road frame is about right. I can collect within a 90min drive of Oxford. Otherwise, I can pay postage. My budget is 300 but I'm happy to pay less :)

I have an old Kona Hahanna which you can have for £100 plus postage which will probably be about £30-40. Has braze ons for a rack. Currently it is on V brakes but has mounts for discs and the wheels are disc read and haven't been used that much. Needs a little care and attention but your budget should probably stretch to that including an upgrade to discs if you want. Happy to haul it out of the basement and take photos for you if you would like.

Also, if you're quick, I happen to be at Bruntingthorpe Airfield tomorrow which is about 40 miles from Oxford.

Cheers Hoppy - I just put an offer in on that. Its a fine red colour.
Cyclingtiger - that also sounds interesting! I'll get back to if plan A falls through.
