Anyone have a Garmin mount suitable for an Etrex they don't need anymore. Cheers

Hux

Get a genuine Garmin one. I've never had an issues with mine and I think the problems with the units ejecting may be the quality of some of the 'copy' mounts.

I second this, having used an etrex for several year with zero ejections. still on a leash though!

Agree with the people who say to get the Garmin Etrex mount - the ebay ones either simply don't engage or cause the use to bounce out.
I'm no fan of spending £10 on a Garmin mount, but you'll end up spending it anyway so do bother with the ebay stuff.
(The ebay "out front" mount for Garmin road computers are totally fine, but the Etrex copy just doesn't work!) :geek:

as the thread noted plenty of us had ejections [ and plenty not] using the proper Garmin unit

Its your choice and your unit

The RAM mounts are solid and mount quite high so avoids baggage and is good for my poor eyesight

I had a couple of the knock offs and had the thing bouncing off a couple of times. I finally lost my etrex on torino nice - the battery cover was still attached to the mount, but the actual unit split in two... which reminds me that I need a new one!

Try using the cutout at the bottom of the unit.
This is a strap/loop that came with a camera that I adapted for the etrex.

Its long enough to allow a hitch round the 'cheap' mounting.

Yup....this is what I do with a lanyard clip on it. The other end is bound to the stem and under the rear ziptie that hold the mount on. I've found my Etrex bouncing off the head tube a few times with cheap mounts and the tether saved it from vanishing somewhere down a trail. Same deal with my Exposure lights.
