Conti Spike Claw 120 26 x 2.1 any good?

They're sitting idle in my garage. Happy to lend them out for the weekend. If the friend is driving past Aviemore then they could pick them up en route.

A side question for those who have them -

Are they for snow only or can they be used on roads too? How long would they last on road?

I did a couple of overnighters in the Alps last winter, on mtb tyres, not safe when the snowploughs had gone down to the icy tarmac.

The ‘turbo’ of spike tires. With up to 402 spikes it bites firmly into icy roads. The tungsten carbide core of each spike is clad in weight-saving aluminum. The tyre remains agile and sporty.
Never tried mine but yes they are designed for icey conditions as you just described

I bet they are slow and a bit bumpy but they will give grip

some reviews on there as well - not likely to link to poor ones though though i have not read them

Depends on the tyre.

The Spke Claws are proper, chunky MTB tyres and are draggy on tarmac.

I also have Marathon Wnters that aren't as bad.

Also - some have spikes on the full width of the casing while others on only the outer portion. The latter are quieter on tarmac and less likely to lose their spikes.

Thanks for the replies. I heard zip-ties can be used in temporary mode.
I have an idea to do the Route des Grandes Alpes in sections. (Geneva/Nice). In winter, making snow shelters on the cols.
