WTD: cheap bivi bag

Post by AlasdairMc »

A colleague is looking to buy some cheap bivi kit to potentially get into bikepacking. Anyone got anything for sale at the moment?

Also looking for an inflatable mat too.

Army Surplus. Brand new off Amazon. £40-45.

Full Gortex, which is the best.

Most complain that it is too heavy. But at that price you can trim it down and seam seal it.

Everyone is searching for lightness, but only full Gortex really works as a bivi material. Avoid non-breathable floors if you move around when sleeping.

I prefer eVent but there you go.

You must be new to all this bivi stuff then. Have you had your first night out yet?

Having used both Goretex and eVent, there's little practical difference between them.

Would the bivy be for use on its own or under a tarp? If the latter then you can go much lighter as you only really have to deal with spray and/or condensation from touching the underside of the tarp.

I put an eVent bag up for sale a while ago, still available http://bearbonesbikepacking.co.uk/phpBB ... 62#p103762

I have one of the Goretex Army surplus versions Taylor got a while back.

Not been used much so they can have it for postage.
