I work at a School so can only get end of july to end of august off in the summer- looking for somewhere to go in the UK for a week where I can pretty much ride and camp and ride and camp without having to navigate too much or keep lifting bike over styles, fences or hedges etc. was looking at the HT550 but as I live in Reading its a bit of a trek, anywhere else for this sort of week long adventure? am quite happy covering 80-100 miles per dau comfortably. any ideas people? any routes youv'e done that gpx files can be donated? Cheers :-bd

Ah thanks, I used to live 2 miles out of Laandudno in Rhos on Sea, been meaning to get back up there at some point. I could train to llandudno junction fairly easily so may look into this,

Does 520km round the quieter parts of Wales sound appealing?

Watch this space Ian. I'll see what alterations Steve suggests and hopefully have an official unveiling in the not too distant.

+1
To the OP, if you make it to Scotland the Cairngorms and Eastern Mounth provide some fabulous riding with better weather and 10% less midges than the west coast....

It's the 9-10 hour train journey that's putting me off Scotland ATM. Wales is a bit nearer. Can't you bring the highlands a bit closer to us down south please :-bd

You're probably right! I can't understand people's ignorance with fly tipping round here, really gets my goat!! Hedges full of car tyres and old fridges and mattresses dumped in the countryside.
Maybe I will make the journey, will have to watch a few more vids for inspiration and motivation.

Get the sleeper if you are closeish to London. Pretty cheap if you book well in advance. And you sleep through the dull bit of the journey.

Hello
I have time booked off in August and had planned on doing the Capital trail, I recently heard that the mild weather had prompted a midge apocalypse due up in bonny Scotland. Call this a weak excuse but it has made me rethink my plan. I might be up for the tip to toe ride in Wales. I will check in as often as possible to stay in the loop. In the meantime I'm near Exeter and plan on doing day rides and overnighters as often as possible. Drop me a line if any of you have similar plans. I'm happy to tell long and short stories of my adventures on the Munda bidi and recently the Baja Divide if anyone is keen on planning those bigger adventures.
