Play it by ear...see what Friday brings. Never write it off ;)

Personally I'd just drink more...at least you have something to blame then when you're ejecting lunch at lightspeed. Triple FTW!

"something to blame then when you're ejecting lunch at lightspeed". An entertaining image!

I didn't think you were coming James - now I know, you gotta come along! It'd be brilliant to see you again, you'd have a chauffeur anyway, and with old farts like me on board it's hardly going to be strenuous. Just get those lemsips on intravenous drip-feed and you'll be sorted. As Scott says, Saturday may dawn lurgi-free. Keep your options and bowels open & see how it goes? :-bd.

:o Forcast now predicts 17.5mm of rain on Saturday! Now if you’re thinking 17mn of water in a glass isn’t much your wrong :-bd
We could be in for an emotional time so pack a sense of humour :-bd
I’m off this evening to scour London for nikwax,I’ll be fervently re-proofing everything when I get home Friday.

It's bitter today - just give my bike a swill off and I can't feel my hands now and that was only 10 minutes outside

Except they won't be at Pennant . (probably bright sunshine there) - will be at Bishop's Castle which has same weather station as Stretton I believe at Lydbury. So we're all in the same aqueous boat :-bd. Think we'll be scoping out hen-houses .

My foot is back to normal size with just a purple big toe - I walked a couple of miles this morning on the way to work which went ok. Still hurts quite a bit when someone knocks it so there would be zero heroics going downhill. I was going to go for a quick blast around the block tomorrow evening in my cycling shoes to make sure that doesn't hurt too much and make a decision from there.

Have a good one guys! - I'll be thinking about you all on my 24hr coach trip to Tignes - looks like the snow may make up for it though!

Sorry Reg, I was looking forward to a catch up -on any old random topic of course- a shame not to make it. Ben kindly offered a lift then I bailed yesterday. Been knocked out this week, way better today, just emptied (! sorry). Too much on at the mo generally to not use the weekend to get over it all.

Up for a pootle-pace ride locally if there's anyone around Chilterns on Sunday, artisan mince pies with a flambe jou (sauce) etc?

If not I will make an effort to get something planned for early next year. Still think that Stevanage loop of yours makes an ideal bivi weekend, maybe just variations on that theme.

24hr ski coach Steve? You'll be seriously brain-fazed after 48 back-to-back Blackadder episodes on the screen.... Hope to see you in January matey?

Yep hopefully sort another Herts loop out in 2019 James...

Unfortunately, it looks like it’s a no from me - the toe isn’t great but my eldest is in full pain in the arse mode and it feels mean to leave the missus in the lurch.

Sorry to lose you P. Could u give the pub a call before tomorrow if poss please to say you won't need dinner? Ragleth Inn on 01694 722711, "Chris's group in the bar". It's not easy for pubs this time of year with their planning. Cheers.

So it's shaping up to be one of those bivvies of which stories are made folks . And one where you rely on your mettle, and possibly more importantly your mates, to get you through. Let the game commence!
