Run to the sun - details.

Post by Bearbonesnorm »

Yay, we've got a rough plan formulated, here goes.

MEET: We wil be meeting up at The eagles inn. Llanuwchllyn, Bala LL23 7UB. It's at the bottom end of the lake.

WHEN: We'll aim to get away around 11.00pm on Friday night. We will be heading for Porthmadog and hopefully see the sunrise or at least get there early doors.

Sometime on Sat' we will turn-tail and head back inland following a different route than the outward leg. We will spend the night somewhere very nice and a bit special - however, you won't need your 'going out in' shoes or trapping knickers 'cos it's not that special.

Anyone wanting their tea in the pub on Fri night please say so, as if there's a few, Mike has said he'll book a table but it'll likely be for around 7.30 - 8.00. Obviously plenty of food options in Porthmadog and cafes, etc in Bala.

Porthmadog is around 60km from the start and the route is 160km in total - there are options to shorten the return journey if we're tired or whatever. There's a high % of off-road and some climbing BUT the route Mike's put together is a cracker and will probably become an annual classic.

Any questions, shout up and remember, if you want to eat at the pub on Fri night say so asap. :-bd

I’m not sure if I can make it for 9 O’clock, I’ll either risk it or grab something on the way.
We’re all individuals, except me.

I woke up this morning but I’m still in the dark

Is it worthwhile my bringing a water purifier for group use?
My filter will purify a litre of water in around a minute.

Entirely up to you David but very kind ... I'm sure there'll be a few Sawyers / Trailshots along for the ride.

I will say that ground water is starting to become quite limited, so I'd advise filtering everything.

I'll also bring the katadyn filters at around the same rate so if people want to leave their trail shots and sawyers at home your more than welcome to use that, coped well enough in the LHC in may

I'll flush my Sawyer before turning up so it flows at the right rate (dirty Sawyer minis take ages).

It is still out there, just not much running and what water there is, tends to be quite green with bits

Water shouldn't be too much of an issue we pass some good water sources. And pubs

Oh and don't forget some fire wood and lighters because obviously now it's roasting we will need to get a BIG FIRE going on the evening
