Does the Manx GP still coincide with the 2 day trial? It was over 40 years ago that I last went, we stayed in a hotel in Douglas with Mick Grant and Malcolm Rathmell who were both riding the trial. The GP was always just for amateurs but the racing was no less spectacular. My dad raced both the GP and TT in the late 50's.

Sort of. Both the GP and the Trial are part of the Manx festival of motorcycling that starts mid-Aug and culminates with the Senior at the GP.

The 2 day modern trial is the first weekend and the 2 day classic trial is the second weekend. The classic TT is over the first (bank holiday) weekend with racing on Saturday, Sunday and the Monday

Dave don’t worry I think that criteria rules most of us out. I’m still going, just realised that there will be two strokes bacon rolls and castrol R are the two greatest smells in the universe, throw in a bit of bike packing and perhaps a beer and it’s pretty close to heaven.
