Entries live for Jennride 2018

Post by postierich »

Hope I am not going to get shot here but entries are live this year we are doing something a bit different we will be supporting these guys this year http://theadventuresyndicate.com/our-schools-project/ and because they are not a registered charity I have had to go down the Eventbrite route. We have set a fee of £25 and apart from a few costs i.e. toilets for the camp field all the money will be going to the above project.
There will be an adventure film night in the Hawkshead Brewery on the Friday night with the Adventure Syndicate and Barry Godin and a few locals talking about various trips. Will have a pizza van outside Wheelbase for the evening so you will have a few options to feed on :-)
As last year the Lakeland 200km riders will be setting off at 6am and the 100 and 50 riders at 9.30am.
Vehicle parking will be as last year with stealth camping available just park away from the houses.

https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/jennride ... 1619976470

Hoping to get a few more newbies and young people to the world of bike packing so the 50 route will be ideal with the choice of staying on a campsite

Any questions feel free to ask on here or email me @ richard.munro@outlook.com

Can you explain a bit more about it as the eventbrite page I find a bit vague.
I met Jenn a couple of times and know of her sad demise but the "Event" is a bit lacking in info.

Isn't it simply an event entry site and this is where the money ulimately goes http://theadventuresyndicate.com/our-sc ... s-project/

As Stu says - Eventbrite is just a ticketing page for those events that are too low key to justify printing actual tickets.

The JennRide was started by Rich a couple of years ago to raise money for a cancer charity (I think it was the one that looked after Jenn in her final days, if it isn't then someone please correct me). It was originally intended as a one-off but everyone liked it so much that we persuaded Rich to run it again.

It is closer to the Welsh Ride Thing than the BB200 in spirit: Rich provides a couple of routes rather than grid refs and it's up to you whether you follow them or not. I've found myself passing or being passed several times by the same rider despite not having deviated from the route or nipped into a shop! It's as easy or as intense as you want it to be. There's pubs en-route and next to the start/finish :-bd

I was meaning the event itself not eventbrite.

Ah sorry ... okay then, it's a ride in't Lakes. There are routes of varying lengths but ultimately you're pretty much free to do as you please.

Entry is in.

Could be puppy's debut outing with the trailer. Certainly something to aim for in getting her used to using it.....

My mate had a bit of a spill with his dog trailer recently, whilst going to fast round a corner. Had a tough time trying to get the shaken (but unharmed) labrador back into the chariot!

I personally wouldn't take a pup in a trailer.

Hi guys just to clarify the money from the event fee will be split between the Schools Project facilitated by the Adventure Syndicate 75% and St Gemmas Hospice 25%. Spoke to Tom Hill and he was chuffed that the ride was continuing and younger people will get the chance to experience riding in the wilds. It was me that approached the Adventure Syndicate after seeing their work with young people Have gone down the Eventbrite route as all the information is collected and its very easy to communicate with people taking part they take a fee but nowts free in this world.
So just to clarify
Parking stealth camping on the same field as last year with a Pizza Van present till the wee small hours
Friday night Hawkshead Brewery 7.30pm for a few films and advice from members of the Adventure Syndicate Barry Godin and a few locals
Saturday 6.00am Lakeland 200 mass depart 9.30am 100/50 mile mass depart
Sunday Welcome back with maybe a beer hoping to have everyone back by 6pm but I will be around until the wee small hours.
Gps routes will be sent out once I have ridden them probably late March they will go something along these lines
50 miler https://www.gpsies.com/map.do?fileId=mbipzycyyffcgmbz
100 miler https://www.gpsies.com/map.do?fileId=ffgrzuwldqvvmuii
Lakeland 200 http://www.selfsupporteduk.net/routes/Lakeland200.html

Thanks for concern and advice about puppy, we are just doing the 50 and she can run any rough stuff. Or that is the theory. Some obedience training to do first!

Also in, but double-booked with a local charity ride, so if anybody wants an entry to the Dorset-Somerset C2C, let me know. Definitely intend to do the Lakes ride, as I want to be in the Cairngorms the following week.
