Only 18 of the expected 300 riders have signed up with 2 1/2 weeks before enteries close.
I've not signed up as I'm not 100% sure that my CX bike will be here in time.

Could it be the £50 that's putting people off?

Looks interesting (I've seen a few tweets about it), we used to live in Rosedale so have ridden quite a bit of the route.

Possibly, seems a lot of money for a route and a Mule bar

It could also be that it's holiday time, there'll be a lot of folk away, going away or just returned and I'm not convinced that CX / gravel plus timed sections is a format that really 'works' ... or maybe the world just isn't ready for it yet?

I've only just heard about this event today. It's not far from where I live.

I was interested until I saw the £50 price tag they've slapped on it!

£50 to ride a 100k in the NYM.

i will lead you round a stonking 100k route round there, and for you cash you will get, a massive cooked brekkie in pickering, and lovely ploughmans lunch near egton, then a 16ounce steak dinner and half a gallon of ale at cropton brewery for supper.

They have a limit of 300 but only 28 have signed up with a week to go.
My CX bike won't be here in time and yes the £50 is a major obstacle as well

That's a kind offer but it's not a race on private land.

In fairness you have only got about a million quid tied up in Titanium bikes. At an XC race you'll have one set of timing gear. On this event I'm assuming that they'll have half a dozen sets of timing gear and marshalls spread all over the North York Moors. £50 isn't cheap for a day out but I can see where the money goes, if you want to race then you have to pay entry fees.

I think with bike events (as with many other things), the market largely dictates the price.

I put it in the calendar and checked when the entries close - they say they will be taking registrations on the day. . . I can see why now. Hope the numbers pick up for them :)

Too much for me, especially when you include getting there.
Also I'm not sure I get this timed segment style. Think it misses the point of gravel style riding.

Well my "gravel" CX bike won't be here in time, so I'm out. Not that I entered.

So, you're more - just not in, than actually out?
