Was looking at some of the numbers for calorie density yesterday and some dark chocolates are amazing.

~600kcal per 100g, and delicious?!? Count me in. Dark chocolate coated Brazil nuts are even better at 650kcal / 100g.

Pure lards / fats / oils aside, the absolute king is Macadamia nuts at a mighty 718kcal / 100g. I don't actually know if I like them, but I'm definitely going to give them a try. Makes Marzipan's 460kcal / 100g look positively weaksauce.

Some more nut options are...

Pecan - 691kcal / 100g
Brazil Nuts - 659kcal / 100g
Peanut - 599kcal / 100g
Almond - 578kcal / 100g
Cashew - 574kcal / 100g

Banana chips are pretty impressive too at 524kcal / 100g (Holland & Barrett).

Can't seem to get them in the UK. Reckon I might have to make my own.

:-bd

Interestingly, they must be using fairly low grade chocolate as the calorie content is a good bit lower than it should be in theory. I reckon it should average out to about 675kcal / 100g, or thereabouts.

You can make your own marzipan or almond paste and then roll bits in chocolate.
You need to roll the chocolate in coco powder to stop it sticking together.
Warning if you use the wrong coco powder you could die of thirst eating it.
I find a hint of rum in the marzipan lifts the flavour.
Zazen - nothing happens next this is it.

I've been making my own snack mix recently - random mix of nuts, fried fruit, dark chocolate (hotel chocolat have AMAZING dark chocolate drops). Mix of very random things, some sweet, some savoury, same salty. I really like it. Particular winners are
- Yoghurt covered banana chips
- peanut m&ms
- Japanese seaweed peanuts
- mixed roasted nuts
- salted almonds

I had some crystallised stem ginger and some dried sliced olives in there last time. Worked well. I basically raid the box I keep in the snack cupboard

It's heavy though!

I've also been a fan of mini cheese and salamis, easy snacks. Pepperami and Ikea mini elk salamis

Yeah, I'm a huge fan of Hotel Chocolat. We went to their Hotel on St Lucia for our honeymoon.

I was fairly trim when we got there... not so much when we got back.

I wouldn't be using that to make my chocolate covered nuts though. Touch on the pricey side.
