Not cycling related but today I got through a short but very stressful test to become a Civilian Support Rider for the Household Cavalry at Windsor. Which means whenever I am available and there aren't enough Squaddies to exercise the nags (which is never), I get to ride the Queen's horses.

Got a job! Now it's time for bikes, beers and a sewing machine*, plus a slight certainty about which hemisphere I'll be in for the next 6 months**

* if you squint you'll notice that actually says paying rent and the credit card bill
** which means it's technically Saturday here but I did get the news yesterday and it's still Friday for most of you :)

It's Saturday but I'm cheery! Cycled from Drymen up to Rowardennan with the misses this afternoon, enjoying a few refreshments in the Clansman before we brave the cold to get me BAM in for February and Scotland just trounced England at the rugger, carlsberg Saturday!

Morning off with the wifey, so drop mini-voodoo off at pre-school and then go for a trail run. Going to be a cold one, especially since I’ve lost my wind proof pants

After a week away with work (it's p1ssed down, blown a hoolly and I've been stuck in a massive underground fuel tank on a wobbly scaffold tower) I'm now delay in Malaga airport.

Office closed. Kids at their mums. Spent a few hours stuffing my bouncy bike into the downhill sections of a little bike park near me. The grip from the snow and close-to-frozen base was is amazing. Mega lean angles make for a HappyTim

Being London based every now and then (not often) we think we ought to go and do something cultural, which this evening we did.
It was rubbish. We had more fun cussing it on the tube home than during the 110 minutes of (en)duration.

We're trying again next Friday. If that turns out to be rubbish we'll probably take up embroidery. Anyone want a nice comforter covered in profanity?

I'm sure most of you will have seen the images created when an artist asked people to draw a bike from memory and he then produced images of the results, if not these are worth a look

https://mpora.com/road-cycling/artist-a ... AQ2uO4V.97

At the time I did get the secretary at work to try this and I was surprised that she didn't manage to draw a bike correctly, but perhaps I'm being harsh as it's easy for us as we spend so much time looking at bikes. So... I've just thrown out my birthday and valentines cards. As a cyclist people tend to get you cards with bikes on. My birthday card form the wife featured us on a tandem

Image

Not a bad effort, obviously the frame is too large as our feet don't seem to reach the pedals but the bike looks like it would work. My valentines card on the other hand...

Image

Unless I'm missing some hidden meaning (in which case it's wasted on me) that's a really poor effort. This card must of been drawn by someone, proofed, printed and packed at the factory. Clearly at no point did anyone look at it and think 'that's not how bikes look'

That second tandem card. I can make out the letters T, W and O. Maybe that's the "hidden meaning"?

"No further action required, thank you for your help" letter through letterbox after sending in all my accounts and bits of paper for HMRC supposedly random tax return "compliance check" two weeks ago. VERY cheery Friday now. One really doesn't want to muck these ladies and gents around - not least because I've heard the menus are quite poor in Her Majesty's corrective establishments.

On a lighter note, Karen has accepted my pre-WRT Star Penthouse Suite booking, despite us keeping them up til gawd knows what hour last time.

Oh, and picked P7 up from LBS service yesterday - like to support them if I can - and only needed a new gear cable, but YET ANOTHER B*Y BOTTOM BRACKET. Sick to to the back teeth with those things.
