Anyone want to keep me company at back on Dirty Reiver?!

Post by Scud »

Anyone else riding Dirty Reiver here? I've slumped from being the fittest i've ever been in 2015/2016 to having hardly riding for the last 4 months due to work and family doing it's best to make sure i'm either knackered or don't have time.

Looking forward to it and dreading it in equal measure, i'll be big lad on the bright red Fargo

Hopefully see you there, if I can get my newly configured 'monster cross' ride sorted in time...

I'll be there too, on a rigid Ti mtb with Caseys Crazy bars, probably a lot closer to the back then the front. I'll keep an eye out for you Scud. :-bd

The weathers looking good, so that's a help.

Job change has knackered my training, plus this week I've been on my feet all day every day for the first time in 23 years, so my legs and back are already aching before I even get on the bike.

Not sure if I'm up to the full 200km, What with the 130km cut off escape (to the pub) being such a temptation.

Bearbones "mass pootle" to the cut-off pub it is then.... my AWSUM levels are definitely low. Charged my Garmin last in readiness and embarrassed to say i've ridden my bike 8 times this year, that's after 9000 miles last year, i'm hoping there'll be some sort of muscle memory and my legs remember what to do

You'll be fine, it's only 130km and no pushing / carrying.

I'll be part of the mass pootle in the race for the lantern rouge.... will keep an eye out for other 'boners... I'll be on a Ti hardtail with Jones bars and a Tangle Bag... say hi or bury me where you find me please.

130k to 160k I found a struggle last year. When I start giving myself speeches from Rocky Balboa you know things are bad. Ate a couple of samosas and actually remembered to drink something then felt good for the last 40km

One of our team bailed at 130k last year and has had 12 months of endless banter about it

Recovering from knee injury this year so not entered but will be back next year

On my way! You can laugh at my Lauf as you ride past... some cheeky climbs in the second half; at least the last 30k is flattish.

I rode the 130km today. 6h 46m with stops. Good ride, fast trails mostly, bit of a cold wind at times. Was just right effort-wise as I've done very little this year.

Would you believe John Climber rode further than me and did the 200km? He's quite pleased with himself, he did a little dance and everything. I thought I should break the news, or no one would have believed him

I rode the 200.... by far the most massive ride I've ever managed (even on a road bike) by about 70km... really enjoyed all the descents on big tyres. The last bit round the reservoir was less fun than I thought it was going to be. The finish was not a definite for me before hand so I was really pleased to have enjoyed the whole thing and managed a finish. Prep for other things this year too :-)
Saw John a couple of times and the wacky bars of In Reverse too at one or two for the feed zones (not easy to miss :-)). I think I saw Scud too. Was a great event - really well organised and worth the trip north to ride somewhere new.
