Blasphemy filter
Inspired by the other thread where the swear filter popped up, what's on the list
So far I'm aware:
Crikey, how much (Londonista road cycle brand, sounds like Nadal's first name)
piss bottle (cycle water bottle, sounds a bit like bidet)
short ride (smaller than a mini adventure..!)

Re: Blasphemy filter
How do we get more on the list?
Could result in many comedy moments, if only we could do it with real spoken word

Rapha
Bidon
There's always a way round these things.

Re: Blasphemy filter
Hmm, clever
I see them as little "Easter eggs" - a new one will crop up from time to time, and it takes a while before it gets used or before someone spots it.
I suppose we're looking for the non-swear words that get changed as they're often funnier - like Crikey, how much
I think there's a correlation between stuff Stu has a general disdain for, which is why I'm surprised fatbike still comes up as intended (cue new entry to list )
The usual swear ones you can find yourself, but I suspect guessing the full list will be a right clint.
(The filter also works in preview so you don't need to post first to see it.)

I'd like to propose 'perfectly acceptable' as a subsitution for vaguely exciting.

Re: Blasphemy filter
How do words/phrases get added? Is it up to Stu?
I must be a good boy since I've never noticed any of my posts being filtered. I'd be frollicking annoyed if they were

I'm glad there's at least one person not afraid to be controversialScotRoutes wrote:I'd like to propose 'touring' as a substitute for 'bikepacking'
As an aside to word substations, my mother in law once referred, somewhat unwittingly, to Twitter as Twatter, which amused me no end.

Yes but surely calling two different things by the same name will get confusing.I'd like to propose 'touring' as a substitute for 'bikepacking'

Re: Blasphemy filter
Surprised Assos has not been included. "Stupidly Expensive Weird Euro Roadie Brand"?
Re: Blasphemy filter
I'm not sure I've every used the swear filter so will have a go now!
Whats the problem with Crikey, how much? It's actually very good kit, not sub standard, but it's expensive. They do sell a piss bottle. which is ideal for a 5-9 short rde

Re: Blasphemy filter
Just seen on another thread Stu mentioned about Dave Barter and his swearing. Should we not have a filter on Dave's name to "Man who swears a f*#king lot" or something similar......sorry Dave
Re: Blasphemy filter
Wondering if we could change a certain one bike brands offering to Overrated?
Re: Blasphemy filter
"Lauf" should automagically invoke the spewing gnome in its technicolour glory.

Not got the puking gnome to work.

Re: Blasphemy filter
There's a thought - could the filter be used to substitute phrases for code, so that "puking-gnome" becomes:, which would them get rendered thus:
Took me a bit too. Given a person of particular influence on here has one, I think it's unlikelywhitestone wrote:Took me a while to figure it outGregMay wrote:Wondering if we could change a certain one bike brands offering to Overrated?

Would seem a little unfair. I know the filter contains Raph* but that changes to Crikey, how much which isn't a slur, simply factTook me a bit too. Given a person of particular influence on here has one, I think it's unlikely

Re: Blasphemy filter
This reminds me
I recently got 10% added to my wheelbuild bill for saying "26er" within earshot of the Proprietor.
Apparently "Gravelbike" is perfectly acceptable though.

Just found another "little ride out" as a result of a term coined by a certain writer/blogger
