The problem with the crop is that it loses the black at the top and that's what makes the photo for me.

I wish I'd switched off my head torch though as its illumination of the foreground detracts. if I knew how to use photoshop properly, I'd take that down...).

I guess if I cropped it out instead it would make it better...
If you don't mind, how do these look?

First one looks kinda wierd, but I'm liking the B&W better as its the contrast between the light and dark that caught my eye. B&W draws that out a little more...

Back in Ireland for a few days. Rural border town that is starting to fall apart as every one moves away. Sad really.

On the way home form work last night, on my camera phone with no post production editing. The joys of being north at this time of year... pink sunsets (ask someone who lives in the "proper north" about the pink winter sun, its unique and magical).

Anyway, riding home from work (nice commute.... ) last night around Hafrsfjorden, Norway.

On a horribly grim day on a grim looking caravan park I found a particularly grim looking entertainment complex...

Went for a short spin on the OnOne with the handlebar bag as a camera bag. Trying out the new to me Sony A7r. Pretty happy with it so far, captures amazing detail. Just need to go on the hunt for some travel lenses for it now!
Picture taken on the Speyside way, just after the smokehouse at Grantown.

From the BAM last week, this one taken with the Sony.
Photbucket has been very weird the past couple of times I have used it, won't let me copy the BBcode or whatever to embed a picture on the Mac, and keeps sending me to the app store for Skybet?? if I try to upload on the phone! So I have created a new Flickr page.
Apologies for the rush of new uploads, kid with a new toy and all that

Gari, I've an a7, they can do a lot with that kit lens. Get your head around it, turn it to JPG+RAW from now, you may find you'll want to go back and use the digital negatives down the line.

Enjoy!

Snapped this on post work ride from the middle of the Humber bridge. Taken with my 3year old cheapo Samsung mobile's camera.
Probably looks awful on a full size screen.

Top one - Fraser in CP6 on the Rovaniemi Race. About 7Am (ish) and he just got the fire going in a bid to defrost our kit after temperatures dropped to -25C
Love the calmness of this photo.

Bottom one - Not long after leaving CP6. Two years ago this was a push section that I completed at night, in the day, it was a beautiful, sparse woodland. A real treat to ride

Really like that second one, especially the light fall off in the corners.

I've got two edits in front of me of the same image, and really cannot decide which I prefer (which is actually weird, because I normally have a pretty dolls idea of what I want from an image before I even hit the shutter) -- so I thought I'd post them both up here and see what you all prefer. Colour, or Black and White?

Also, anyone want to hazard a guess as to where this is? I'm sure there a few people on here that know this road.

Fairly sure that the road up Cragg Vale has white lines at either side of the carriageway plus there's walls or fences set back at either side. Given Daniel's location my first guess would be either Dartmoor or Exmoor but the "I'm sure there a few people on here that know this road" comment could mean the Peak or somewhere further up this way.
