Made aware of their existence on the convert to 11 speed thread (thanks all) I ordered a 10 Speed Deore 11-42 cassette for the wife's bike to get a lower bottom gear which should help take the strain off her bad back on the hills.

I know as a singlespeeder I'm not used to large sprockets (although I do have a geared road bike) but the thing that hits you first is the size of that largest sprocket :o At £35 delivered it's less than half the price of the Sunrace equivalent. It's a bit heavier than the Sunrace version but for the intended use it's a bargain

A surprisingly well packed box from Planet X (not padded with the contents of the bin this time) containing some Vittoria Adventure Trail 38c and Smogasbord tyres to give the Fargo and the Cooker a bit more bite as winter approaches...

Hardly a major purchase, but 2 x 26" Conti Light tubes. Yes you read that correctly, "26" and "tubes". I shall continue to fly the flag for the Luddites

95 litre Osprey duffle bag for Lapland trip, I have 4 TNF base camp duffels but I needed another big duffel for the trip (don't like suitcases) and this was a good price

Lots of dehydrated meals

8 pairs of brake pads for 3 different bikes

They have food in Lapland although to be fair, taking your own is much cheaper

Two glass bottles in some fancy inflatable wrapping. One filled with 21 year old Glenfarclas (pressie to someone else - I hope they let me try it ) t'other with Green Spot (Irish whiskey) which I've been meaning to try for a while.

All quiet on the bike front. Other hobby is getting all the attention. Today was parts for a XLR patch bay. Was hoping for delivery of a Parker Hornet PM20...but it seems to be delayed. /me taps foot and looks at watch

Thanks JP. Have wanted a Parker Fly for nearly 20 years...finally pulled the trigger on a model I could afford. Bad case of GAS right now.

I prefer a kinda retro Fender J shape (but I know where you're coming from), looks 'vaguely exciting' in deep sea blue

Anyway, postie delivered three dinky little backpacks.

Oh, and three Maxxis 2.8" tyres (High Roller, Minnion DHR & a Rekon). I'm now officially skint! :ugeek:

Then the Hermes bloke rocked on up with my Hornet. Happy days.

2 x Berghaus Arnside "micro fleece" from OutdoorGB. Had a few things from them over time. So that's sorted my winter layering out - varying combos of 2 x bamboo baselayer and 2 x fleece gets me well below freezing. Had thought about a Haglofs LIM Mid Jacket instead, from Ultralightoutdoorgear at only 170g but they didn't have any mediums and they're twice the cost.

Also the "winter legwear" discussion prodded me into some new shorts. I know Tenns are the favoured ones, or cutdown w/p trousers but my goretex overtrousers are already doing good service as, er, goretex overtrousers. So it was "Madison Tempest 3/4 Waterproof Baggies" from LondonBicycleWorkshop for £44.99, much less than Endura/Altura.

Oh, and a Disco Antistat vinyl record cleaner ;-). That'll keep me busy on the dark winter nights.

Reg, you're the only person I know of that cycles in a fleece, it's brilliant :-bd
