More Columbia jacket chat: I was asked to measure the medium arm length for someone so I thought I'd post it up here in case anyone's interested: 19" pit to cuff, roughly: https://www.dropbox.com/s/qdm8qq3ze0nsw ... 0.jpg?dl=0

Looks a bargain to me - a ‘cruelty free’ 780g two to three season down bag for under £90

Rock and Run still have the Mountain Hardwear Ghost Whisperer Jacket for half price at £125. Also noticed they now have a different colour (orange) at a slightly cheaper price - £120 only certain sizes available though - M, XL, XXL.

They are just certifying that the down won't have been plucked from live birds like a lot of cheap down. Whilst better that is far from making it cruelty free

Seems like a fair bag for the money (regardless of the ethical implications of using down) - I just wish whoever had written the bumph for it, knew their arse from their elbow.

Described as a 4 season bag, yet with a comfort rating of +7 and talk of 'the down filling generating lots of heat' ... is it electric, do you plug the thing in?

Evans have their usual sale on, but the one thing that stuck out was half price Wheels Manufacturing gear hangers. £12.50 for the one I was after.

They look good, any idea how heavy they are, as it would need to do double duty as my fell running jacket?

They're very good and not that heavy. I find the breath okay riding but not sure I'd like to run in one.

I get clammy in the Ex Eco version. That said, it was 20 degrees when I tried it out. YMMV.
Reckon it might be pretty good when it's cold and wet.

Had an email from Charlie the Bikemonger, discount plus frames at £149

https://www.charliethebikemonger.com/pi ... 3808-p.asp

Although it takes boost qr wheels there is an explanation of what's available

DONT FREAK OUT ABOUT THE DROP OUT... You see

Shimano make a 141 qr deore hub for around £20 (do a search of google shopping for that).
Halo have confirmed they can supply wheels for this size too, take the 148mm hub and add the QR kit (code: HXHASVTMHG).
Hope are cool too, take a 148mm hub, and get the QR kit (code: HUB238).
And I suspect any other brands 148mm with their own QR ends will work.
We can supply your wheels from halo and Hope. Just ask.

Also a free multi-tool with 100g of bum butter

https://www.charliethebikemonger.com/ha ... 2582-p.asp

Which I've ordered as I need some more butter anyway

Personally, no chance. I'm a sweaty beast and only run in very thin softshells (depths of winter) or windproofs. Any cag would boil me alive.

Specifically regarding the Outdry stuff that one is (I think) the heavier duty version. I found their range a bit confusing / not very well differentiated but his one:

Was lighter weight in general and might be more suited if you can bear running in a cag. Not sure whether the fabric is any lighter or weather it's just trimmed features and fittings to drop grammes. It is lighter weight (IIRC c.150 grammes).

Saying all this I do like them so far. I seem to kill DWR on regular jackets and the experience (not so much last few months of sunshine) of being in the wet but just having it bead straight off all the time, everytime is novel and nice

Bikester have an Endura sale on with some reasonable reductions. Always had good dealings with them previously in case you've not heard of them.
