Amen. However, Rab kit is generally best value, especially as you can pick up most things discounted.

Hopefully a bargain, as mine will be delivered on Monday... Aluminium cx frame, carbon forks and nice through axle wheels for less than £300.

This week I have searched and searched to discover what this frame actually is but couldn't find any info so held off buying it too. But i have bought the £500 carbon roadie aero frame they have  and a Di2 groupset to put on it. (which a Hong Fu FH169 / R8 Avenger frame if anyone is sniffing around it.)

The blurb on the advert talks about fitting 35s, but looks like it'll take a lot more. I'll let you know when I get it. I'm hoping to run something 35ish and fairly slick, and also some cx mud tyres on occasion.

Assuming it is the same as the foots Cray, and it looks identical, mine will get knards in there comfortably. The front will probably take a skinny MTB tyre but I haven't tried it yet.

You're going to like it. It's astonishingly 'grrr' for a cross bike. Compared to my old pro 6 (with the same kit) it's hugely confident at high speed off road and the primary limitation on steep stuff is starting to become the saddle height more than anything else, or at least riders feeling that he is a mm of forward weight shift from going over the bars. It still feels good at that point, it just needs a dropper!

Also, that's a bargain. Where on earth have they got it from?

Sounds excellent Mat, thanks for the heads up! If it's that competent off road, I might look at less slick options too.

Ritchey Commando fat bike frameset (frame / forks / headset) reduced from £900 to £180 ... I was almost tempted until I remembered I don't like fat bikes. Could make a decent 'Plus' bike though. Anyway, here you go.

I can heartily recommend it- it was a lot of fun today in the snow.

Interested in the Shark thing, I have been after a "gravel" bike that will take 650b/50-52mm tyres for a while, as my OO is just a couple of mm shy! Be keen to know if it will take something like a Panaracer Comet Hardpack in 27.5?

The Traverse does look like a cracking deal. I've also been on the look out for a gravel bike that will take a wider tyre.

I almost pushed the button on the Traverse myself yesterday, the thing that's holding me back is that it looks a bit slammed on the front for a man of my age.

There's a few good bargains in the Trekkit sale, if you're the right size etc

If you're having to shift a bike for 20% of its retail price, what's wrong with it? :???:

The 'internet' seems to like it but it also appears that the world of fat bikes moved quite quickly and I wonder whether a 4" tyred, skinny steel tubed, matt green fat bike with 'classic geometery' couldn't keep up with tastes / fashion?

I had to ask someone about this. Apparently it's the same frame, the QC rejected ones - for what reason they were rejected I don't know. The factory sold them off and there they are, a few on ebay.

If anyone knows what the QC issue is, that would be good!

Interesting. I had to get mine second hand as I missed the last (only?) batch. I say missed, I talked myself out of it as I'd not had my pro6 more than a couple of years. I'm amazed they're not making more, I'm sure it would be very much in 'fashion'.

Very slack though- i believe it's about the same head angle as my mk 1 Solaris. Lots of fun so far

Only opened the box, and put the first few bits on so far but it looks good. Room for a 40mm tyre in the back with a bit of clearance, and I think you could get about a 2.5 up front so long as it wasn't too tall!
