9 speed chain rings

Right so looking on net for 9 spd chain rings for my r8 I cant seem to find anything.. anyone still buying these if so where r u getting em from please?

Why can't you use 10 speed? It's only the width not the pitch that changes, and as long as you don't go wider (8 speed), you're ok

you cabn use 10 speed rings as i have- as noted they are narrower so no issues in use, Might reduce chain life but never really noticed any difference,

I also have a set of xtr triple[m970] that you can have for postage and a donation - all perfectly fine and will take a new chain - can do pics as i have two sets

I thought that for 9, 10 and 11 the width between the inner plates stayed the same but the outers got thinner, which is why 11 speed chains aren't as strong as 9 speed ones.

Hope say their rings are 9, 10 and 11 speed compatible. I use a 10 speed absolute black chainring on my ss with what is effectively a 9 speed chain with no issues.

When I used to track race, it was quite common to use 1/8 rear sprockets and chains and stick narrow road rings on the front, for no other reason than they were cheaper. On singlespeed mountain bikes I've used all sorts of mixtures, I'm currently running a 10 speed chain on an oval narrow/wide ring with a Surly 9 speed cog on the back. The 10 speed chain on the 9 speed cog seems fine. I did test it for fit beforehand and it mated as it should.

So I'm not the only one then.
I still use venerable Middleburn 5arm 110 pcd/bcd ATB pattern chainsets on 2 of my bikes.
Luckily there's a bit of ring choice out there now because it's the same as road compact. The likes of Hope are making rings to fit CX bikes in that size.
Just a shame you can't go smaller than 34t.
