Drop bar, rigid, 67.5(+) er

Finally finished it, comfy for a 2 hour test spin, managed not to fall off in snow

Nice! What are those gear shifter thingies? Did you have to raise the bar up and back to get it comfy? I've built a couple of drop bar 29ers and they always felt odd. Too stretched our and low at the front.

They are Gevenalle...well actually these are older ones from when they used to be Retroshift with Dura Ace bar end shifters on. I'm a big fan, have Gevenalle on mx CX and a homemade version on my roadbike for a sturmey archer.

Stem is 60mm 35 degree with quite a few spacers. It's ended up 10mm less reach (saddle nose to bars) than my CX and handlebar drop (top of saddle to top of bars is just 10mm compared to 25mm on my CX so I am pretty sure it will prove comfy.

Also probably helps I am probably the top end of height for a 16" Inbred

Meant to ask Shawn, what wheel / tyre have you squeezed in the back?

Both rims are velocity blunt, just a 26x2.25 crossmark in the back but the blunt pulls it out nicely, 27.5 x 2.8 rekon upfront and the blunt squeezes it in a bit. End result I don't think it looks that odd and rides much better steering wise than it did as a 69er.

I have been considering a set for my Fargo but the reviews seem a bit Marmite. How do find not being able to change from the drops, is it as much of an issue as some reviewers make out?

Doesn't bother me, I tend to cruise about on the hoods and in to the drops for technical or descending, just select gear before your do. I can see they could be a bit marmite though. To me they just feel really natural, precise and fast whilst being simple.

Bit spendy so try and get a go on some.

I do same, it was the not being able to change whilst in a technical section I thought might be a problem.

I currently run Hylex brakes and bar ends so thought I might try the 1 x lever conversation when I Upgrade to 10spd
