Calories burnt in BB200

Post by adjustablewench »

Had to share - Mike has been so confused as to how strava said he'd only used 3500 calories for the entire BB200

. . . After listening to him grumbling about it for a while I checked his account - he'd listed his weight as 78lb!

I think he was worried he was going to have to cut back on his cake consumption

I probably ate that much in each of my "special butties".

A svelte 10983 Strava calories for me. My attempts to reintroduce that to my system were hindered when i fell asleep in my Chinese takeaway when I got home.

8,700ish for me. I'd say that's probably on the high side if anything as I only pulled an average HR of 135bpm.

Well I've put 4lbs on since Friday so I'd effectively ate 30,000 calories more than I used which is quite impressive

I think Ian Fitz had a power meter, so that would produce a much more reliable number than a Strava swag. Except it won't account for the energy expended on HAB, or swearing at the puddles/mud/tussocks/etc...

It’s going to way out unless you guys correct the bike mass to what it weighed loaded. Strava takes combined weight of you and the bike. Mine was around 9000 with the weight of the bike incorrect for an 18hr 30 completion

Strava shows mine at 8903 kcal and I have the correct weight for the bike as I have the loaded bike saved separately in my gear section. This was for a 21 hour time. As I always take too much food I kept all the wrappers so I could see how much I ate.

The foil, parchment paper contained home made mini leak and potato pasties, choc chip and blueberry rice cakes and choc chip and nut brownies. The foil ziplock had my supernoodles flavoured with soup. I also ate half a small bag of trail mix of sweets and nuts. Having added up the total of all that I consumed 3354 kcal.

I had this much left over

I've not added up the calories of that lot but I probably should of eaten some of it rather than just carry it round

Wow. You carried a massive amount. I thought I went over the top!

I reckon I had about 5 hours worth left over, which makes sense as for the last few hours I wasn't really eating due to all the stopping to pump up the tyre / feeling a bit sick.

I should of ate more of the food I carried but I think the technical nature of the route (compared to what I'm used to) meant I didn't remember to eat. It's taken all my will power not to start eating the leftover stuff now as I pack it back in the cupboards at home

My food count from memory:
-a few bits of beef jerky, er 40grams.
-bits of cheese (babybel cheese) x 5.
- 2 x pork pies (250g total I thinks)
- a packet of salami
- numerous cereal bars (nakd bars, eat natural)
- half a packet of Doreen

Not forgetting from the elan valley café, baked potatoes with chili con carne and a bit of Victoria sponge cake.

Had a couple of cereal bars, some beef jerky and half a soreen at the end. Would have been tight if I hadn't got anything at the café!
