Taking the hassle out of HAB?

Post by ZeroDarkBivi »

Just spotted this on KickStarter:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/pe ... escription#

Not sure how much it would get used in the UK, but if you like to do a bit of via ferrata with your bike... and you could use it as a bivi pole in the evening!

Maybe worth a punt when I do that Alpine trip I've been dreaming about for ages.

That's actually pretty clever. And yeah - might get added to the kit list for my return to the Tour de Mont Blanc/Haute Route next year.

Think I'd probably want a rucksack with wider straps than my Camelbak Mule though...

I would be a bit concerned with the entire weight of a loaded bike being transferred into one point in the backpack - I expect many packs would quickly fall apart. But probably no more unhealthy than balancing the bike on one shoulder, as I currently do on steep climbs.

Does it go in the bladder sleeve? Would have thought that has quite a high potential to overload the zip. But hey, it's kickstarter, it's probably kewl

The idea of promoting climbing steep ground or even ladders in the Alps because you have this to hold your bike seems risky. Scrambling with a heavy snaggy pack can have enough off-balance risk as it is. Maybe I'm being overly cautious - of liabilty lawyers or scrambling risks, not sure which.

It's quite clever the way that it telescopes up and down so you can hide it in the pack.

It's quite low tech, but I suppose simple is usually good. The cup approach seems particularly low tech!

I reckon that would work quite well in my Evoc pack, but it's a bonkers amount of money.
