Edinburgh to Peebles - Capital Trail in reverse?

Post by thenorthwind »

Will be riding from Edinburgh to Peebles this weekend as part of a longer route. Any better ideas than the end of the Capital Trail in reverse? Any good descents I'd be missing?

It's a good route to Peebles that I often take but I change the route at Bavelaw Castle. Instead of climbing up to Cap Law which leads to a very fast grass track descent to Nine Mile Burn that I find is over all too quickly I go West to Wester Bavelaw then South on a track to a stand of trees (this track is not marked on all maps) then heads SW to a t junction. Turn South ( this new track is marked) over the Bore Stane to Carlops. This way is longer distance and time wise with less climbing but I feel it is more involving.
Can send a gpx if you want.

Thanks for that Ray :-bd

I see what you mean - the track's on the OS 50k, but not on the 25k it seems.

Just adjusted my own GPX but cheers anyway.
