Anything better than a BOB trailer

Post by BreninBeener »

I havr been looking for a trailer that can be used for camping and a little bit of off road, also transporting shopping and a small dog on trips where it would be too far for her to run.

Needs to fit multiple bikes...so suit q/r rear or 12mm fitment.

Thanks

My first thought is, "anything worse than a Bob trailer?"

Only used one for a couple of days (it was a compulsory thing on a stupid course I did some years ago), and the only take-away from that experience was - never again.

It sounds like you have a genuine need, but I would only recommend you try and find another way round it if you enjoy riding anything but canal paths.

Extra wheel? Although not sure where the pooch would go....rear rack maybe? http://www.extrawheel.com

"Extrawheel" - lovely bit of kit. Sadly superceded as I discovered "UL". Still wheel (ho ho) it out for occasional nostalgia trip.

Get another dog to balance both sides .

Don't know if it's any better but what about this trailer, I think it's made by the same people who do the gorilla cage.

Have a Bob Ibex. Not too bad for single tracks for which the Bobs are handy. Forget the suspension though. It's not damped and bounces like house of pain. Yak being the better solution I guess. The little wheel is crap too.
Handy for hauling food and stuff to the river etc.

Then shopping... go for a trailer with an axle and two wheels.
Fully loaded, single wheel trailers are pita to handle.

Trailers are great for shopping, christmast tree collecting and many other things folks think they need a car :-bd

I did a bit of looking around at trailers for hauling my dog (a labrador who used come MTBing until he developed arthritis) and other general large loads . Though I've not bought any, one at the top of my list (though expensive) was cycletote. It seems the best made/design. Uses full size tyres. It obviously wouldn't handle singletrack but I would think no one would want to ride single track with a trailer.
