Any One ever tried to Fabric Dye a Tent??

Post by magicw »

As per the title really. I picked up a brand new ( Argos brand I think ) Pro Action Hike Lite 1 person tent from a Car Boot for £4.
It really is an excellent little piece of Kit. Only problem is its Orange! I want to use it for a bit of Stealth Wild Camping and would prefer it to be Black/ Green.
Has any one ever tried to Fabric Dye a tent? Thought I might just machine dye the outer and then reproof it. Is this feasible/ possible?

The other option would be just to use the Inner with a Tarp over the top!

Paint it maybe, you'll certainly not dye the fabric.

Think Inner only with a Tarp over is the way to go! Inner is Grey and Black and a Tarp over will give me a bit more Covered outside space.

I'd be worried painting might make it less breathable, risking CO poisoning

Spend another £6 on the project and you'll be sorted. :-bd

CO poisoning? Surely it's just the outer you'd be painting?

I'd be more concerned with the paint cracking when you fold it up and all those little flakes messing up the inside of your drybags.
Just a thought?
