Etrex data saving

Post by biggaygibbon »

Got an Etrex 30x. Has the W Europe basemap on it ( not on SD card).
Is there a way I can get it to save data to the SD card instead of its internal memory? That way it won't matter about it getting full up with 'activities'....

Don't think you can, but you can move the map to the card and free up internal storage. This is what I do with my Etrex20.

And I could be horribly wrong - happy to stand corrected.

Plug your device into a computer - you should see "Garmin" (the device storage) and another drive appear (the SD card - mine appears as No Name). Using Explorer/Finder/whateveryoufilemanagewith, navigate into the Garmin folder on the device storage, locate the IMG file and copy it. On the SD card, make a folder called "Garmin" and paste your IMG file(s) in there.

Not a bad idea to take a copy of 'em and drop 'em on your machine/external storage for backup in case you pooch 'em someday and want to drop 'em back on the device.

Hope that helps.
