Shortish route in the Dark Peak

Post by flyingmonkeycorps »

I've got time to get out on Friday after work for an overnighter - I'll be driving to the Peak (probably either Hope or Bamford kinda way) and arriving prooooobably six half sixish, riding somewhere for a camp then riding back the next morning.

I've ridden loads round there and bivvy'd a few times on foot, so I've an idea what's around but I'm always open to suggestion (plus all my walking spots would be a paint to get to with a bike).

Long range forecast looks clear but breezy, so somewhere with a bit of shelter might be an idea.

Favourite ideas so far are somewhere around Mount Famine / South Head, or somewhere up at the end of Cut Gate.

Ta!

Loads of potential spots around Cracken Edge above Chinley. Nice ride in from Edale, Hope, etc.

Ace, I'll have a look at that. Looks interesting with all the old mine workings too.

Oh, and if it's old mines you're after, I can bore for England on that score.

(Just realised the wordplay above - 'see what I did there?')

You've clearly got a very well drilled routine.

He can certainly carve out some prose when the need arises.

What wags we are :-bd.

"I'll be the guy with the beard" - which seems to be pretty much a compulsory adornment in BBB circles .

Hahaha fair point.

Ok I'll be the guy with the inappropriate bike (Cotic Rocket) and the beard. I'll prooobably mostly be around the Hope / Ladybower area I think, and I'll be off home by the middle of Saturday.
