Morocco for Christmas?

Post by Sarah »

So I have flights with bike to Marrakech over Christmas.

Looking at having a super chilled trip to the east, Demnate, Aït Blel to Aït Bougomez and on round to Bin el Ouidane.

Bit concerned about December weather, any advice or comments?

And if we don't do that other suggestions? It will be first trip with bf so want to take it pretty easy. I want some sun and warmth but he doesn't want hot ! Bit of exploring and rural stuff, nothing too fancy, touristy or extreme.

Cheers.

Meraid's (Faraway visions) been out there a couple of times at that time of year I recall. Looked great, I'm sure she'll have posted something about it.

I've riden there in Novemebr and it was bl**dy hot during the day. Cold at night though.

We were in the Atlas mountains and did a mixture of camping and guest houses.

Loved it :)

Just back from a wee tour over there, fascinating country, great cycling, loved it and hope to go back
We flew into Marrakesh then took a taxi to base of hills
Marrakesh wouldn't recommend cycling around it,did meet some other cyclists one who got banjoed by a motorbike day 1 so no cycling for them.
Got scammed at Airport with taxi driver-double normal price and dropped off nowhere near the hotel so his mate who had a trolley could take our luggage at a price to the hotel.Taxi should be about 120 DR.Get the price before they sling your gear in the taxi.
Don't eat at the stalls in Jemma square rip off and poor quality ,plenty good places to eat around it
Beware of the impromptu guides who will want to take you shops, cafes etc just tell them you have eaten or bought what ever they are trying to get you to buy.
That was the only negative out go Marrakesh the locals couldn't have been friendlier/helpful
Only struggled 2 nights to get a beer
Some photos to wet you whistle.
