R&D has taken something of a backseat over the last few weeks John. Should have more free time after next weekend.

Stu - I am more than happy with a set for my Cloudburst which would be the same.

However, I would also happily take a set at 54" which would work with a Superfly. All depends how many you want to lash-up, are inclined to do etc etc. If it's a one-or-the-other situation then a 71.5" set please

Warbonnet are 6.9mm alloy but I guess they could be carbon.

Ian, they'll bend a fair old way without exploding. Also, they don't require pre-shaping to help them curve as aluminium poles often do.

You'd probably require something a little longer in order to form a true half circle but you could get reasonably close and cerainly form a good arc with 1m ... I reckon I know what you're thinking

There’s three tabs stitched across my homemade bivy bag at about shoulder level. There’s plenty of width designed into it and I’m thinking with enough flex I can use it as a bivy tent. Could use a length of cord under the bag to hold it in a curve.

Have I missed what lengths it’s abailable in and how these fit together?

I'm thinking the same Ian...but with a pair. One tab in the middle and put a crossed pair arc over the top, threading through the tab. Would be enough to keep the bag off my face.

I'd say 1m is probably minimum length. Simple slip joints (no cord), the tension caused by bending holds them in place. As you say, a length of cord or webbing with an eyelet / sleeve would hold everything in situ.

My MLD Bivi bag came with a bit of removable 'garden wire' that supposedly provides some structure to keep the bag off the face, combined with a tie that holds it all up (if under a bivi or suitable trees). Never used it as it looked a bit crap! Maybe this pole would work, but I think 1 metre would be too long to fit inside.

No, not too flexy for a spreader. The tarp itself will give the pole a degree of rigidy as will the fact it's held in bending tension.

Trying to work out a neatish way to attach the line to the pole - the linked to poles have the benefit of push-in locking caps, something we can't do with a solid pole.

Fishing rod end/tip eyes. They come in 3mm bore BUT... the eye is of course offset so would make the whole thing less practical to push through a sleeve.
Don't know if there are any electrical ring terminals with a 3mm bore out there that could be fixed/heat shrinked on the ends?
One of your pole spigot ends with the rebate around them plus a loop tied into the rebate?
