Merseyside Winter Bivi

Post by JohnClimber »

I'll post up photos on this post and edit this when I can be bothered to fire up the laptop.

5 out riding and overnighting and riding back on Sunday.
Jim and I bagged 70 miles.
Riders, Me, Jim, Eric, Lu and Sam
Storm Dierdre didn't let up until the early hours of Sunday morning, with an extremely cold, wet and very windy Saturday followed by a warmer and clear blue sky start to Sunday morning.
Joined by Mark for the overnight and Stephen for the Sunday morning.

Thanks for a memorable ride guys

A great spot, well sheltered from the gales

Sam and Mark joined us ready for the pub Saturday, and Mark a bit later. We took it in turns in front of the fire, but after two hours not properly warmed up !

I set off Saturday morning from home at 8:35am, 31 miles to the meeting point... short respite in the Heaton's Bridge and a great pint, then 5 miles down the canal into the wind... punishing.
More rain and windier, and cold...

My trip home Sunday involved lifting my bike over a high gate, at 4:15pm, had gone dark.... decided to eat my one energy bar and a small pack of raisins in advance of "the lift"... yes I was a bit tired ! Just managed to lift it over, Saturday morning on the way in I cleared by several inches !

106 miles for me.... ugh    :-bd

Nevertheless a great weekend and great company.

Thanks John for organising, and good to meet Lu again, Jim, Sam, Mark, Steven.
