Traveling a car in orlando

Post by johncina14 »

Hi - we are traveling 1st 2 weeks in may and have hired a car through YescarHire which uses joie baby spin https://productz.com/en/ ... aby%20Spin. We have also requested a car seat which we pay for on arrival (for a 3-year-old).
Last time we traveled (18 months ago) we took our own car seat but on arrival at Orlando airport, we found it was damaged in transit.
This has put us off taking our own seat again and we kind of assumed that the States is a very developed and safety conscious country (plus everyone seems to sue everyone!!) that the car seat issued with Alamo would be of high quality - can anyone tell us any different?
Thanks for your responses x

Why not ring up the car hire people and ask them for the make / model of seat supplied, then check it out on-line?

Ooooo .. so off topic it's almost delicious.

Firstly, as a former staffer of a global car hire firm, please don't go hiring one from the company. Most international airports in the US are rather large. There will be someone there that does this at a fraction of the cost of that which your car hire company will charge.

Secondly, as a father who travelled extensively with our kids, at three years old your wee one may be tall enough for a simple booster seat. Which will not be damaged in transit. Promise. If not, apply Rule One above.

And the US really isn't a crazy nanny state. Far from it in fact. You do what you think is right and good for your kids, and that is normally enough for them.

And as Reg said, tent or tarp?
I'm just going outside ...

While you’re here have you ever considered traveling by bicycle and sleeping in ditches, I find it a perfect antidote to family related travel woes :-bd
